The Minister of Health in the Federal Government, Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, inaugurated the new intravenous solutions production line at Pioneer Pharmaceutical Industries in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, with a production capacity of 90 million production units annually today, Thursday, March 7, 2024.
The opening took place in the presence of the Minister of Health in the Regional Government, Dr. Saman Al-Barzanji, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Kurdistan, Mr. Kamal Muslim, the Governor of Sulaymaniyah, Mr. Haval Abu Bakr, the Chairman of the Kurdistan Investment Authority, Mr. Muhammad Shukri, Mr. Saad Kolak, The Kolak Group President, and Mr. Mohammed Mustafa Kolak, The Kolak Group Vise President.
The Minister stated that “the new production line for producing intravenous solutions at Pioneer Company will contribute significantly to the localization of the pharmaceutical industry, especially since Pioneer Company is the first Iraqi pharmaceutical factory to export its pharmaceutical products outside Iraq to the Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman, and soon there are future plans to export to Libya and Jordan.”
The Minister explained that “the total number of the company’s contracts with the Ministry of Health during 2022 amounts to 23 billion dinars, and it rose during 2023 to 86 billion dinars. We hope that it will rise during the current year, and we pledge, as a federal Iraqi government, to express absolute support for the national industry.”
Dr. Al-Hasnawi pointed out that “the current government has taken it upon itself to localize the national pharmaceutical industry to reach the end of the current cycle of national pharmaceutical production to 50%,” indicating that “pharmaceutical security is not achieved except through pharmaceutical localization.”
The Minister pointed out that “the contracts of national companies with the Ministry of Health for the year 2023 have reached 30%, and we are looking forward to increasing them.”
The production capacity of the intravenous solutions line at Bionic Company amounts to about 90 million production units annually and covers more than 90% of the needs of government health institutions for intravenous solutions.”The company owns three other production lines for producing pills, capsules, syrups and ampoules. It annually produces 2 billion tablets and capsules from the
general formulations line, 46 million units from the syrup line, and 150 million ampoules, while the percentage of its workforce is Iraqis more than 90%.
