The Kolak Group was founded by Mr. Haji Mohammed Kolak, the grandfather, in the late 1920s in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq in the wholesale food trading and real estate sectors.
In the 1960s, four decades after the company’s founding, the business was taken over by Mr. Fayeq Mohammed Kolak, who established a strong reputation as a leading flour merchant (“Matahen”). Under his leadership, the company expanded its operations into the animal feed sector, real estate investments, and wholesale food trading.
This period of growth strengthened the company’s market presence and contributed to the broader economic and social development of Iraq.
In 2003, Mr. Saad Fayeq Kolak, son of the founder and Chairman of the Kolak Group, assumed leadership of the family-owned business.
